Type approval of equipment for automotive use is necessary if the equipment has a safety critical function according to Directive 2004/104/EC. This approval requires performance of an accredited EMC test. If the equipment does not have a safety critical function, the directive states that you may choose between e-marking (for prepackages) or CE marking. The choice between these solutions is typically influenced by the end user's demand to the manufacturer.

DELTA is an accredited test centre that carries out EMC testing in accordance with the tests prescribed in the directive in preparation for e/E-marking (type approval).

Furthermore, DELTA issues Attestations of Conformity and offers consultancy services in connection with the processes concerning Conformity of Production.

An e/E-type approval for a product is granted based on an accredited EMC test report from DELTA. DELTA can refer to a consultant who can assist regarding the procedure of submitting documentation to Notified bodies and approval authorities.
