exSOUND2000

State of the art prediction

exSOUND2000

The most accurate noise propagation modelling software

The DELTA family of Sound Prediction Software makes it easy to predict sound with higher accuracy, thanks to the Nord2000 model. The new model has many important advantages compared to earlier methods.

Benchmark testing carried out in the European research project Harmonoise has enabled DELTA to further improve the advanced engineering algorithms in
exSOUND2000 dealing with wind influence on the effect of noise barriers and screens.

A display facility in
exSOUND2000 has been added allowing easy graphical check of input such as source and receiver positions, terrain profile as well as wind direction and speed.

    • Accuracy
It is based on a mathematical model of actual physical phenomena, whereas earlier models were based on approximations derived from experimental data. This gives greater robustness and dynamic range of calculations.
    • Frequency Resolution
The 1/3 octave capability gives better frequency resolution than previous models with 1/1 octave resolution.
    • Meteorological Modelling
It provides a far better modelling of meteorological conditions, which can have a significant impact on the accuracy of the model. In spite of the greater mathematical complexity, the user interface represents a simplification compared to earlier noise prediction models. In addition, the high computing capability of modern PCs makes it possible to use mathematical models which could not be realistically computed in a reasonable amount of time just a few years ago.

Product Family

The basic package,
exSOUND2000, provides rapid computation of full octave sound levels for stationary sound sources. The influence of source sound power, meteorological conditions, and terrain is considered in the model.

The more advanced package, exSOUND2000+, adds 1/3 octave capability, along the provision for non-stationary sources, such as trains and linearly moving vehicles. Both of these packages provide for computation in a single receiving point and no contour mapping.

exSOUND2000 demo can be downloaded from here. Please note the exSOUND2000 is specifically geared for scientific and research use, and requires a thorough understanding of the underlying principles behind the Nord2000 Prediction model. The exSOUND2000+ demo is fully functional except for built-in random errors of ±1-3 dB.
